Fifty dresses that changed the world

Everything around us in designed and the word "design" has become part of our everyday experience. But how much do we know about it? The Design Museum of London has launched  an exciting new series of books (50 shoes, 50 chairs, 50 cars and 50 DRESSES THAT CHANGED THE WORLD!).
Each book lists the top 50 products that have made a substantial impact in the world of British design today.
Fifty dresses that changed the world includes timeless dresses from the 1915 Delphos Pleated dress to Hussein Chalayan's 2007 LED dress. The collection of dresses in this book provides an introduction to the path fashion has taken in the last century.

I was particularly impressed by some photos: they are about dresses designed by André Courrèges, a French fashion designer, born in 1923,  known for his ultra-modern designs. He is the one who introduced a revolutionary concept of styling: space-age clothes. These designs included angular mini dresses and trouser suits.
His designs went a long way to liberate women from the impractical, constrictive clothing of the 1950s; Courreges put women in simple, practical clothing.
Here are some nice pic of his most famous dresses (very 60s, indeed!)
